The adventure explores Uganda’s western safari circuit, driving from Entebbe to Bwindi through picturesque landscapes, remote hamlets dotting the hilly green countryside, and fertile volcanic slopes neatly planted with dense rows of cow pea and string beans as far as the eye can see.
More primate encounters with our closest cousin, chimpanzees, in the world-renowned Kibale National Park will be another highlight of this trip. You’ll walk with a human-habituated chimpanzee troop and spend another enchanting hour with the forest dwellers. Explosive game viewing drives and boat safaris in Queen Elizabeth National Park and the far-flung Murchison Falls National Park will introduce you to Africa safari’s big game players like lions, elephants, giraffes, hippos, buffaloes, leopards, and crocodiles.
Pick up from Entebbe International Airport and check you in at your hotel within Entebbe. You’ll meet with our representative for a briefing just before dinner. There are optional activities around Entebbe for those who arrive early and want to stay active. For example, bird-watchers can visit the world-renowned botanical gardens or Mabamba swamps to meet the prehistoric shoe bill. You can take a quiet walk to the local markets or shop at the modern malls.
Start your journey from Kampala and get an en-route stopover at Mpambire for the drum making activity enjoying the culture of Uganda. As you continue with your journey, take another stopover at the equator where you will take photos as well as refreshment.
Your first visit will be Lake Mburo national park. Situated between the towns of Masaka and Mbarara taking you about 4 hours to get there. Lake Mburo National Park is the only place where you can spot the impalas in Uganda, antelopes as well as the Elands. There are also many herds of buffaloes and Zebras with in this national park.
The game drive through the park will allow you see many of the animal species as well as birds. You also make sure that the ranger from Uganda Wildlife Authority is on the vehicle to be able to point out the many birds.
The boat cruise will get you to come face to face with the flora and fauna of the lake. And along the bank, you will also see many animals that come to the water especially in the dry season.
Enjoy the pearl of Africa as you head to Bwindi for gorilla tours encounter. This activity starts early with breakfast then briefing at the park headquarters. You will be allocated to a gorilla family depending on your level fitness. Take the trail and this takes 3-6hours in search for the gentle apes. Once in contact, you will take one hour with them; take photos but no flash light because it disorganizes these apes. In all you will be doing will be in guidance of the game rangers.
Cross to the Ishasha sector for the tree climbing lions. This works best during afternoon hours because they are up for shade as they plan for their next meal. As they rest up in Savannah trees, they are targeting their next plot for the day. You have the chance to also see those other animals the lions are waiting for as their next meal.
After this head to the main queen Elizabeth park for the big five. Take a game drive conducted early morning and, in the evening, giving you a chance to see different animals like buffaloes, leopards, elephants, giraffes, lions, antelopes, hippos, various reptiles and birds.
Head to Kibale national park for chimpanzee trekking. This also takes early morning after breakfast; go for briefing at the park headquarters. You will be guided by game rangers throughout your trek. it takes hours to reach them but once in contact, allowed to interact for one hour. It’s a life changing experience.
Wind up your safari by visiting the crater lakes in fort portal. Head to Kampala using the Mityana route. You will have a stopover in Mubende for lunch. Continue to Entebbe for your flight back home.
